Olivia Forsyth is an artist residing in Edmonton, Alberta, Treaty 6 territory. Currently, she is focused on creating hand-sewn soft sculpture dolls, as well as experimenting with other forms of sculpting. Using humble materials and simple techniques, her work seeks to honour craft making and folk art by creating objects that are both familiar and numinous, evoking a sense of comfort, adoration and mystery. Her work synthesizes themes of archeology, fantasy, spirituality, feminism, animals, and the natural world to create contemporary artifacts which celebrate the profundity and absurdity of being alive on planet earth.
