Erika Germain is an emerging artist, writer and arts worker based in Edmonton, AB on Treaty 6 Territory. Working primarily across painting, sculpture and social practice she interrogates structures of language, religion and exchange to examine how we create communities and genuine connections with one another.
About the design:
Using a process of translation by assigning a colour to each letter, text can be created in visual space. This pin, presenting translation as a metaphor for the sincere work of connecting lives, offers the word “community”, turning the letters into a swirling colourful line, while activating the spirit of translation in connecting and supporting this community.

Writers Fund: writers commissioned for exhibition texts are paid $500

Programming Fund: artists involved in exhibitions, events, workshops and lectures are paid at or above CARFAC rates
