From 1 - 3 p.m.: join MAG Exchange mentor team Cindy Baker and Roseanna Joy Nay for a book and zine launch, featuring two performances. Weather permitting, this event will take place outdoors in the green space east of Allard Hall at MacEwan University (104 avenue between 111 and 112 street).

Performances:

The Three Graces (Cindy Baker, Mary-Anne McTrowe, and Shanell Papp): charm, beauty, and creativity are holding a bouncy castle sleepover party as part of their eternal duty to bring joy to the people by bringing joy to themselves.

under shoulder (Roseanna Joy Nay): a pit stain being made on an otherwise pristine tuxedo. A garment I’ve never worn before, a first. Salt, not unlike sweat, can be acrid when there is too much of it, or a delightful contrast to something sweet. Take a gift bag with you when you leave, a rural keepsake made sweet and salty.

Texts:

Casual Encounters--Catalyst (2021) is an anthology of writing about Cindy Baker's work, edited by Ted Hiebert with contributions by Théo Bignon, Richard Boulet, Blair Brennan, Michelle Lacombe, Aaron McIntosh, Mary-Anne McTrowe, Veronika Merklein, Mikiki, Christine Negus, Shanell Papp, Kristin Rodier, Zoë Schneider, and Stefanie Snider.

Never Seen Before (2020) is a collection of dreams by Cindy Baker. From fake snowball fights to writing school exams on her phone, these vignettes share the humor and the strangely relatable stories of personal night time experience.

Ditch Witch is an erotic zine by Roseanna Nay, collaging construction equipment and Hitachi Magic Wands through photo performance, drawing, and prose.

This event is supported by the  Latitude 53 Gallery, Mitchell Art Gallery, and Noxious Sector Press.
