About Schmoozy 2025
Latitude 53’s signature annual fundraising event returns for another year! Join us in a spectacular celebration of artists and the community that supports them. Funds raised will directly support our programming and gallery space, allowing us to continue to provide opportunities for contemporary artists, curators and writers with programming that is free and low-cost throughout the year.
Running annually since 1998, Schmoozy has evolved from a silent art auction to an exhibition with works for sale by local artists. Works will be on sale both online and in-person for the duration of the show, providing artists, both emerging and established, with opportunities to grow their audience, get paid for their work, and connect with other artists and art lovers alike within the community.
As always, 50% of the proceeds of the works sold in the sale, will go back to the participating artists.
Facilities expenses and an update:
Facilities upgrades have been an ongoing goal since we moved to the McLeod in 2023. You've probably heard us talk about our washroom woes, but to recap:
The main facilities upgrade we’re pursuing is the construction of two additional washrooms to raise our venue capacity, allowing for more community events, and more flexibility in the types of events we can host. The total cost is estimated at $55,000 but the functionality it will bring to our little space will be priceless!
Some good news:
We’ve started working with an amazing local company on the washroom build, and have a tentative construction date of early 2026.
Earlier this year, we secured partial funding through the Edmonton Community Foundation
Some not-so-good:
The ECF grant only covers a portion of the costs, we still need to raise about $20,000 to cover the total. This will also provide a safety net if the final costs are higher than estimated.
These upgrades will greatly increase our capacity to support artists, including creating more programming opportunities, better support artists, host events, and overall better serve our community.
Schmoozy will be open to the public in-person and online at Schmoozy.ca from November 14–December 6.

Latitude 53 invites members and guests to join us on Friday November 14th for a celebration of all the artists and their work at 7pm. Schmoozy 2025 is on view at Latitude 53 from November 15–December 6, 2025.
Gallery Hours: Wednesday–Friday, 12–5. Admission is free.
