The Latitude 53 Board of Directors is currently considering nominations for new Directors for the October 2011 Annual General Meeting. We are looking for well-rounded individuals interested in supporting the organization with their enthusiasm, creativity, and professional skillls.
Who: Volunteers who are interested in serving on the Board of Directors for a 3-year term. As an artist-run centre, we are currently focused on recruiting practicing artists with experience supporting Latitude 53 or other non-profit organizations.
Why: The Board fufills a governance role and is responsible for the highest level of decision-making and legal authority in the organization. The Board is also responsible for setting and realizing the organization’s mandate, values, and vision.
What: Board Directors often serve in specialized roles, but the overall work of the Board focuses on governance issues, ambassadorship, and fundraising efforts. Directors typically spend 4-8 hours a month on these responsabilities.

It is the SEC that works hard to host fun and dynamics fundraising parties for Latitude 53, like the Summer Rooftop Series, The Fine Art of Schmoozy, and 53 Ways to Leave Your Lover.
Who: Volunteers who are interested in helping to make our fundraisers successful, enjoy working on a team, have excellent follow-through, and want to have fun working behind the scenes with other fun volunteers.
Why: We raise nearly half of our donations through fundraisers and special events. This is a large portion of Latitude 53’s operating budget, and we strive to improve, grow, and raise more so that we can do more!
Bingos are an important fundraising activity for Latitude 53 that requires reliable volunteers every month.
Who: Reliable and responsible volunteers over 18 years of age. No previous Bingo experience is necessary!
Where: Latitude 53 is a member of the Fort Road Bingo Association. The hall is located on 13403 Fort Road in Edmonton, only 4 blocks north of the Belvedere LRT station. The bingo hall is non-smoking and the staff is helpful and friendly.
When: Latitude participates in a Bingo every 1 – 2 months. There are Afternoon events (10:30 – 3:30 p.m.) and Evening events (4:30 – 9:30 p.m.), usually on a weekday.

Latitude 53 also participates in Casino fundraisers. Every two years we seek out committed and hard working volunteers to help with this important fundraising event. Our next Casino will be taking place in 2011.
Latitude 53 would like to create and train a team of volunteers to prepare the gallery for shows, hang exhibitions, and de-install and package artwork.
Who: Anyone interested in hands-on tasks, improving their handy-man/woman skills, and learning about the installation process. Experience is welcomed, but not necessary.
When: New shows open about every 5 weeks. Installation Team volunteers must be available on a weekday. You will not be required to assist with every install/de-install.
Latitude 53 would like to create and train a team of volunteers to be ongoing bar tenders for our opening receptions, special events, and fundraisers.
Who: Responsible 18+ individuals who would like to help make events at Latitude 53 a success. Bar tending experience is not necessary, but for busier events we welcome volunteers who know their way around a good cocktail.
When: Opening Receptions occur about every 5 weeks, on Friday evenings.
The 2010 Summer Rooftop Patio Series begins in June and ends in August. Every Thursday Latitude 53 will be running two bars on the rooftop patio. For this we will need bar tenders who have experience and would like to help make this Patio Series a smashing success!
Note: The AGLC has made ProServe training mandatory for all licensed premises serving and selling liquor. While it is not mandatory for Latitude 53, we are able to provide online ProServe training to volunteers interested in bar tending, free of charge. Volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of tasks, such as reception & front desk, selling tickets, coat check, bussing & serving, auction registration & monitoring, and packaging art.
